Filler Concerns and Filler Reversal
Recently Had Filler and Experiencing Concerning Symptoms?
If you develop unusual or worsening pain, blanching or white/gray/blue discoloration near the injection site, new vision changes, or neurologic symptoms after filler, seek immediate medical attention. The FDA identifies these as potential signs of serious filler complications involving blood vessels. U.S. Food and Drug Administration
If you experience vision changes or neurologic symptoms such as facial drooping, weakness, numbness, difficulty speaking or walking, severe headache, dizziness, or confusion, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. Do not wait for a routine appointment or online response. U.S. Food and Drug Administration
Find the Right Solution for Your
Filler Concerns
Unwanted or uneven filler, an overfilled appearance, lumps, migration, or asymmetry can be frustrating and concerning.
At Vanished Aesthetics and Wellness, we begin with a careful evaluation of your prior filler, what you are noticing now, and what may be contributing to the concern. When appropriate, your plan may include ultrasound assessment or hyaluronidase to dissolve hyaluronic-acid filler.

Questions About Dissolving Filler
Ultrasound-Assisted Assessment
Ultrasound may help identify filler location and depth and provide additional information when evaluating migration, lumps, overfilling, or other complications. PubMed
Our Careful, Personalized Approach
We Review Your Filler History
We Assess the Area and Your Concerns
We evaluate symmetry, fullness, tissue changes, and the specific issue you want addressed.
We May Use Ultrasound for Additional Information
Ultrasound can help visualize existing filler and surrounding tissues and may also be used to guide targeted treatment in selected cases. PubMed
We Create a Personalized Correction Plan
Your next step may involve observation, HA filler dissolution, ultrasound-guided treatment, or another approach based on the findings.
Filler Reversal and Assessment Options
Hylenex / Hyaluronidase
Hylenex is a recombinant human hyaluronidase. In aesthetic medicine, hyaluronidase may be used off-label to break down hyaluronic-acid filler when dissolution is clinically appropriate. FDA Access Data
Ultrasound-Assisted Filler Assessment
Ultrasound may help identify the location and depth of prior filler and provide additional information when evaluating concerns such as lumps, migration, asymmetry, or overfilling. PubMed
Ultrasound-Assisted HA Filler Reversal
When appropriate, ultrasound guidance may help target hyaluronic-acid filler during a reversal procedure. PubMed
Clinical Evaluation of Prior Filler
We review your filler history, assess your current results, and discuss the most appropriate correction options based on your individual situation.
Not Every Filler Can Be
Dissolved the Same Way
Hyaluronidase is used to break down hyaluronic-acid fillers. Other filler materials require different management approaches and cannot simply be dissolved with hyaluronidase. PubMed
Knowing what product was used, where it was placed, and what is actually causing the concern helps guide the safest and most appropriate next step. Ultrasound may provide useful additional information when filler type or location is uncertain. PubMed
Filler Concerns and Reversal FAQs
Which fillers can be dissolved?
Hyaluronidase is used to break down hyaluronic-acid fillers. Other filler materials require different management approaches. PubMed
What does Hylenex do?
Hylenex contains recombinant human hyaluronidase. In aesthetic practice, hyaluronidase may be used off-label to break down HA filler when reversal is appropriate. FDA Access Data
Will dissolving remove all of my filler?
Not necessarily. The amount affected can vary depending on the filler, treatment area, amount present, and clinical approach. Some situations may require staged treatment.
Can ultrasound help find old filler?
Yes, in selected cases. High-frequency ultrasound can help identify filler location and characteristics and may help evaluate migration, overfilling, nodules, or other complications. PubMed
How soon can filler be dissolved?
Timing depends on why reversal is being considered and what is found during the evaluation. Routine cosmetic correction and a suspected vascular complication are very different situations, so treatment timing must be individualized.
What should I do if I have severe pain or vision changes after filler?
Seek immediate medical attention. Vision changes, unusual pain, white/gray/blue skin discoloration near the injection site, or signs of stroke after filler may signal a serious complication. U.S. Food and Drug Administration
